Dorset Council is developing a new Waste Management Centre in Blandford Forum to replace the current recycling site, benefiting residents across Dorset. Construction is underway with 45-50% of the planned native trees, hedgerows, and grassland already planted, contributing to wildlife habitats. The center, set to open in spring 2027, aims for a 33% biodiversity net gain, surpassing UK Government targets. It will feature various habitats and long-term ecological management for at least 25 years, supporting climate and nature recovery efforts. Councillor Jon Andrews emphasized its role in enhancing the local environment while serving community needs.
