Year 5 pupils from Elm Academy in Bournemouth participated in creating a permanent sculpture to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Farms for City Children, a charity founded by Sir Michael Morpurgo and his wife Clare. After visiting Nethercott House in Devon and creating a batik print, the students were invited to contribute to a sculpture led by artist Des Alner. They formed vibrant ceramic leaf-shaped tiles using their handprints, which will be incorporated into a new sundial at Nethercott. Elm Academy principal Jo Wakeman expressed pride in the children’s involvement and the project’s significance.
