Branksome man to run 104 miles for cancer unit

On July 4, 2026, Paul O’Boyle from Branksome plans to run nearly 105 miles to support the Ladybird Unit at Poole Hospital, completing eight laps of the Bournemouth Bay Half Marathon route. Diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2024, he received treatment from the unit and aims to thank the NHS staff while raising awareness of male breast cancer symptoms. Known as the “Marathon Man,” Paul has a history of endurance running and hopes to raise £10,000 through JustGiving for the Ladybird Unit. His previous feats include 27 marathons in 26 days and the South West Coast Path challenge.
