Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council plans to expand the Linwood School Skills Centre in Poole by adding 30 post-16 places for young people with Education, Health and Care Plans, starting in September 2026. This expansion addresses a rising demand for specialist support, with a reported annual increase of 11% in children needing EHCP assistance. Opened in November 2025, the centre focuses on life skills preparation for adulthood. Facilities include specialized classrooms and a training flat. A public consultation seeks feedback until June 15, 2026, with a final decision expected on July 22. Additional staff may be hired as needed.
