Bournemouth man jailed after rape conviction

Liam Christopher Bassett, a 28-year-old from Bournemouth, has been sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison after being convicted of multiple offenses, including two counts of rape and assault. The court heard that he was physically violent towards the victim, who was known to him, and forced himself upon her when she refused him. The victim reported the abuse, and her courage in participating in the investigation was highlighted by Detective Constable Rose Pratt, who emphasized the importance of her evidence in securing the conviction and encouraged other victims to seek support.
