A new Bill by MP Jessica Toale aims to provide stronger legal protections for children against domestic abuse through Domestic Abuse Protection Orders (DAPOs). Currently, these orders do not fully cover children, leaving them vulnerable. The Bill would allow children to apply for DAPOs themselves, and enable parents to include them in applications, ensuring young people facing abuse have the same legal protections as adults. With over two thousand DAPOs issued, the legislation seeks to adequately protect all victims as the orders expand. The Bill has gained cross-party support and is scheduled for a Second Reading on December 4, 2026.
