BCP apologises over food waste delays

BCP Council is enhancing the reliability of its food waste collection service, which began in April for over 100,000 households in Poole and Bournemouth. With 601 tonnes of food waste collected in May—nearly 250 tonnes more than last year—the council notes high resident engagement in reducing landfill waste. Councillor Andy Hadley highlighted this enthusiasm, but the council acknowledged some service delays. To address these issues, they are adding an extra vehicle, increasing staffing, adjusting collection routes, and modifying waste disposal locations to improve service efficiency.
