Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is supporting the Royal Life Saving Society UK’s Drowning Prevention Week from June 13 to June 20. The campaign aims to educate children, teenagers, parents, and caregivers about water safety, highlighting the alarming rise in drowning deaths among 13 to 17-year-olds, which increased by 67% from 2020 to 2025. The initiative encourages adherence to the Water Safety Code, emphasizing risk assessment before entering water, staying together, and knowing emergency procedures. Free water safety resources are available on the RLSS UK website to aid in these efforts.
