One-way Wimborne bridge trial to end early

Julian’s Bridge in Wimborne will fully reopen to two-way traffic on Thursday, June 18, after a temporary single-lane setup during the Wimborne Folk Festival on June 13-14. Dorset Council aims to gather data on pedestrian traffic during this busy period to assess the effectiveness of temporary traffic signals and dedicated pedestrian space for safety. The trial received substantial public feedback, with nearly 3,000 survey responses. Council member Jon Andrews emphasized listening to residents’ input. The bridge will briefly close on June 18 for the removal of traffic lights and cones, with further updates forthcoming.
