Kathleen Butler from Bournemouth has been nominated for the Girlguiding Celebrates event in London, recognizing her impactful volunteering. After losing her husband to cancer in 2004, she found joy and purpose in Girlguiding, filling a void as her children grew up. Kathleen has dedicated nearly two decades to guiding young girls and leads three units in her community. Her colleague, Susie Brown, praised her unwavering dedication and enthusiasm. Additionally, she has established connections with Girlguiding units in Orewa, New Zealand, where her daughter lives. Kathleen finds fulfillment in supporting girls’ development into confident young women.
