Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service (DWFRS) warns of a scam claiming that individuals will be charged £500 for not having a working smoke alarm. Reports of this scam, including emails, have emerged in areas like Hertfordshire and Greater Manchester. Area manager Marc House emphasized that all home fire safety visits and smoke alarm installations provided by DWFRS are completely free. The service urges the public to be cautious about unsolicited communications and not to share personal details. Suspected scam emails can be reported to the National Cyber Security Centre.
