The Friends of Charminster Library are organizing a demonstration outside the library on Friday, from 3 PM to 4:30 PM. The library has been closed since December 2025 due to a partial ceiling collapse, and BCP Council has stated it will remain closed indefinitely. Concerns are rising that the council may not fund necessary repairs, which could lead to the permanent loss of the library, an Asset of Community Value. A public meeting held in May discussed the site’s future, involving residents, local councillors, and campaigners. Louise Norman emphasized the tragic impact this loss would have on the community.
