Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service warns residents about scam emails regarding home fire safety visits, falsely claiming households could face a £500 charge for not having a working smoke alarm. The fire service assures that their official home fire safety visits and any smoke alarms provided are free of charge. Area Manager Marc House confirmed that any messages suggesting fees are scams. Residents are advised against clicking links or sharing personal information in suspicious emails, and they can report suspected scams to the National Cyber Security Centre.
