Nicola Hutchings left her successful career in event management and commercial kitchens to better care for her son, who has chronic fatigue syndrome and chronic pain. Seeking flexibility, she launched Kitchen Makeovers in August 2020, inspired by her husband’s expertise. The business quickly gained popularity in Bournemouth and Poole, receiving 32 five-star reviews within a year. While nervous about leaving a steady income, she found the transition rewarding, allowing her to support her son’s health needs and spend time with her older child before his RAF training.
