Dorset Police issued a warning after a resident fell victim to a scam involving an email claiming extra delivery charges due to fuel costs. Trusting the email, the individual paid a small fee via a provided link. Later, they received a convincing call from someone posing as a bank representative, asking for payment related to a loan in another person’s name, leading them to pay again. Police emphasized that scams can severely impact victims and urge caution: do not click unknown links or answer unfamiliar calls. The actual bank later identified the scam and refunded the victim.
