In March 2023, Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole Council received £20 million from the government’s Levelling Up Fund, with £9.6 million designated for the repair of Bournemouth Pier. The project aims to extend the pier’s lifespan by 25 years through concrete repairs and corrosion prevention. Initially set to start in 2024, the timeline has since shifted, with expectations to begin in autumn 2026 and complete within 18 months. Additionally, the council is addressing landslips along East Cliff, with a planning application submitted for stabilization works anticipated to commence in September 2026.
