Pier repair contractor still not appointed

BCP Council has yet to secure a contractor for the restoration of Bournemouth Pier, despite receiving £20 million from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, with £9.6 million earmarked for repairs. The project, aimed at extending the pier’s lifespan by 25 years, includes concrete repairs and corrosion protection. Initially set to begin in winter 2024, work is now expected to start in autumn 2026, lasting about 18 months. A prior tender closed in September 2025 without suitable bids, leading to a revised tender process. However, the delay has not impacted funding availability.
