Research from Ceretone reveals that only 49% of individuals with hearing loss in Dorset use hearing aids, meaning approximately 32,000 out of 64,800 residents are not receiving support. The study indicates that 96% of hearing aid users report improved quality of life, enhancing social interactions and mental well-being. Despite these benefits, many delay seeking help due to embarrassment or cost, averaging a wait of one to three years. This untreated loss can lead to low mental health and increased depression rates. Consistent use of hearing aids remains an issue, with discomfort cited as a major barrier.
