Tatiana Vaivode, 36, and Salah Sabir, 47, led a gang that smuggled nearly a million duty-free cigarettes into the UK, avoiding £8 million in taxes. Vaivode utilized a front company for smuggling, while Sabir managed distribution and was found with £32,000 in cash. Vaivode received a three-year sentence, and Sabir was sentenced to two and a half years. In separate cases, Thomas Betteridge was jailed for eight years for manslaughter following a fatal stabbing, while Chad Smedburg received ten years for rape and assault. Luke Burton was sentenced to six years for online sexual offenses involving minors.
