New Mental Health Unit for Young People Opens in Dorset

Seastone, a new mental health facility in Bournemouth, was developed by Dorset HealthCare with £17.9 million funding to offer 24-hour care for 13- to 18-year-olds facing severe mental health issues. It aims to keep youth close to home, reducing out-of-area placements. The opening ceremony was attended by local MPs and representatives from various health organizations. Seastone features an eight-bed unit, private bedrooms, therapy and sensory rooms, and educational facilities. It’s part of a £70.6 million initiative to enhance mental health services in Dorset, focusing on complex cases and promoting better recovery chances for young individuals.
