Poole Town Council aims to retain the mayoral section of the former Poole Civic Centre as the Grade II listed building is set to be sold to Manchester’s MCR Property Group for £5.25 million. The building has been vacant since 2022 after ceasing operations in 2019. The council voted 33 to 21 in favor of the sale, which is expected to save £228,000 annually and support housing goals. Discussions are underway regarding lease terms for the “vertical slice” area, including the mayor’s parlour and council chamber. Leader Xena Dion emphasized the community value of the space for meetings and events.
