The Canford Garden Village proposal by W.H. White Ltd and Estate Resources & Management Limited has been submitted to BCP Council, featuring a primary school, medical center, shops, a community hub, and a care home. Half of the 1,200 new homes will be affordable. Local councillor Richard Burton expressed concerns, citing the area’s existing housing burden and potential infrastructure strain, especially considering other developments nearby. MP Vikki Slade highlighted the importance of the green belt and criticized the disproportionate housing expectations on Bearwood and Merley, urging for new development in more suitable areas in Poole and Bournemouth.
