Town council declines funding for Bournemouth Air Festival

The Bournemouth Air Festival, initiated in 2008, was an annual event held every August except in 2020 due to COVID-19. Spanning 1.5 miles from Bournemouth to Boscombe Pier, it featured various aircraft, Royal Navy vessels, interactive attractions, entertainment, and fireworks, attracting around 500,000 attendees in 2024. The 2024 festival marked the last organized by BCP Council, which aimed to balance its budget. Following its cancellation, calls for its revival intensified, but a 2025 funding bid was rejected for insufficient detail. Residents urge the new council authority to support the event without significantly raising council tax.
