Police seize car in Gillingham for running red light

On May 30, shortly after midnight, North Dorset Police officers observed a blue Ford Focus running a red light in Gillingham. Upon stopping the vehicle, they discovered it lacked an MOT, insurance, and tax. The car was seized under S165 of the Road Traffic Act, and an investigation into the traffic violations was initiated. Police emphasized that driving exemptions apply only to emergency vehicles, not civilians, and warned against running red lights, even when being followed by emergency vehicles. The investigation remains ongoing. The vehicle’s owner must provide proof of insurance to reclaim it.
