Swanage Information Centre celebrates 90 years of service

Swanage Information Centre, celebrating its 90th anniversary from June 6 to June 14, first opened on June 10, 1936, in The White House on Shore Road, making it the UK’s longest-serving visitor information centre at its original location. Mayor Chris Tomes highlighted its vital role in the community and tourism economy. The anniversary will feature bunting, historical displays, and a gathering for former staff. Originally launched to support tourism, the centre played various roles during WWII before returning to its visitor services. It has since adapted to financial pressures and earned multiple tourism awards. Memories and stories are requested from the community.
