In June 2001, the village celebrated its 35th Coral Anniversary Carnival, marked by a parade led by carnival princess Gemma Moore in a vintage car, accompanied by the West End Carnival Show Band. The recreation ground was packed with residents enjoying performances, including the London Flyers Gymnastic Display Team and traditional Punch and Judy shows. The event also aimed to raise funds for the Julia Perks Foundation, which supported a children’s hospice in Poole. This community-driven initiative saw significant local business backing, enhancing its success and community spirit throughout the week with various activities.
