Councillor says BCP unprepared for visitors

Labour leader Patrick Canavan criticized BCP Council after a busy bank holiday weekend that attracted thousands, resulting in over 83 tonnes of rubbish collected and nearly 2,900 parking fines issued. He called for better management, including a temporary park and ride scheme, and expressed concerns about anti-social behavior on Bournemouth beach. In response, Council leader Millie Earl defended the council’s actions, stating they worked diligently to ensure safety and manage crowds. She noted the issuance of parking fines and removal of vehicles, and mentioned ongoing calls for stronger enforcement powers and a visitor levy from the Government.
