Citizens Advice BCP reported over 15,000 issues related to Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole over six years. The charity participated in the Timms Review, assessing PIP’s effectiveness since its introduction in 2013. Chief officer Tom Lund highlighted the overwhelming challenges many face in navigating the PIP claims process, noting that complex descriptors hinder disabled individuals from accurately conveying their disabilities’ impact. The current system is viewed as inadequate and distressing for claimants. Citizens Advice BCP’s comprehensive feedback is available online, and the evidence gathering period for the review closes today.
