A new 20mph zone is set to be implemented in Winton, effective June 1, to enhance safety for pedestrians, cyclists, children, and seniors, while reducing collisions, congestion, and emissions. Supported by local residents during public engagement, the initiative will affect 139 roads in Winton, Charminster, Moordown, and Talbot Woods, identified as high-priority areas due to previous collision statistics from 2019 to 2023, which recorded 217 casualties, including 36 serious injuries. Councillor Sharon Carr-Brown noted mixed feelings among residents about potential speeding from adjacent areas. Full details and affected roads are available for public review.
