Over 570 properties are currently at risk of flooding in Poole, a number expected to exceed 2,000 in the next century. A £29.4 million flood defense scheme was approved in July 2025 to safeguard Poole town center and adapt to rising sea levels, collaborating BCP Council, the Environment Agency, landowners, and developers. Initial works began on May 18, 2025, targeting the area around A350 Holes Bay and Lifeboat Quay, with construction on Zone A starting June 1. The final phase, from the RNLI car park to Poole Bridge, is planned for autumn 2027, addressing urgent tidal flooding risks.
