Firefighters respond to major heath fire following numerous calls

On May 22, Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service responded to multiple reports of heath fires in Wareham. Fire engines from several locations, along with additional support units, attended the scene. Firefighters found two areas of heathland ablaze, measuring 50m² and 100m². Approximately 50 firefighters worked to manage the incident, initially containing the fire by 1am and scaling back operations to three fire engines. By 7:23am, the fire was deemed under control, but inspections revealed hot spots throughout Saturday. The cause of the fires is under investigation. A separate heath fire also occurred in Puddletown Woods on May 26.
