Construction has begun on new flood defenses in Poole, comprising 1.5km of infrastructure from Poole Bridge to Hunger Hill. This initiative aims to reduce tidal flood risk to Poole town center, Poole Old Town, and nearby areas, anticipating rising sea levels over the next century. Collaborating with various organizations, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council emphasizes the need for protection due to the current risk to over 570 properties, projected to exceed 2,000 in a hundred years. Councillor Andy Hadley hailed the project as a key step in flood resilience, highlighting ongoing preparations and necessary lane adjustments during construction.
