Motorists warned in crackdown on speeding offences

Dorset Police collaborated with Community Speed Watch volunteers and the Safety Camera Team to address speeding in east Dorset after receiving over 1,000 public complaints in three years. Speeding was linked to 67% of fatal collisions last year, resulting in 172 serious injuries or fatalities. During a recent operation, 73 traffic offences were recorded, and 128 drivers were found speeding. One driver was caught at 71mph in a 50mph zone. Superintendent Rob Chalkley emphasized the importance of speed awareness, urging compliance with speed limits to ensure road safety. This initiative coincided with Community Speed Watch week.
