Adventure Wonderland plans face refusal

Adventure Wonderland may remain underdeveloped as planning officers recommended denying a mixed-use leisure and tourism proposal. The site, previously a family theme park, has been partially occupied by organizations like Diverse Abilities and Merritown. Proposed features include gardens, outdoor play areas, mini golf, and the reopening of the café and shop, but the plan seeks retrospective permission for a 107-space airport parking operation, deemed unacceptable by officers due to insufficient evidence of demand and highway safety concerns. While over 50 supportive letters were submitted, five objections raised safety and commercial parking issues. A decision is expected from the council on May 28.
