Transformer weighing 20 African elephants delivered on Saturday

National Grid is set to deliver a 120-tonne transformer to its Mannington substation near Verwood on May 23. The transformer will travel from Poole Harbour with the help of haulage specialists, Allelys, utilizing escort vehicles for safety. This delivery will involve rolling road closures along specific routes, including Blandford Road and the A31. Dorset Police will assist with the transport from 8 AM to 2 PM, ensuring minimal disruption. This new transformer is essential for increasing the electrical supply capacity in the region, addressing the rising demand for electricity in West Moors, Verwood, and St. Leonards.
