Ferndown family endures ongoing stress one year post fire

On May 26, 2025, a fire broke out in a garage on Victoria Road, quickly spreading to the home of 75-year-old Karl Mohangee and his family. They escaped unharmed, but the fire left their property in ruin, with Karl describing the damage as “catastrophic.” One year later, the family is still reeling from the aftermath, facing challenges related to insurance coverage and the emotional toll of their loss. The estimated rebuild cost is £216,000, but they believe their insurer, Howden Insurance, will cover only half. The family currently lives in rented accommodation, feeling lost and uncertain about their future.
