Reform, controlling new councils in Bournemouth and Poole, seeks to abolish them despite mixed voting success. In Bournemouth, they secured only 31% of the overall vote yet won 12 out of 21 seats (57%), while in Poole, with 41% of the vote, they gained 15 out of 21 seats (71%). Oddly, Reform won 35% of the Broadstone votes without securing any seats. This discrepancy stems from the first-past-the-post voting system, which is unfair in elections with multiple candidates, creating distorted outcomes. Despite awareness from BCP and the government, this ineffective system persists.
