BCP Council awaiting decision on stricter parking fines

In August 2025, BCP Council increased penalty charges for parking on 543 coastal roads, aligning them with London’s rates. By February 2026, the Council submitted trial findings to the Department of Transport, seeking permanent authority for these higher fines across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole. Previous trials showed a nearly 7% reduction in illegal parking and improvements in safety and congestion. There is strong local support for continuing these enforcement measures.
