Ruth Wildman and Denise Marks from Colten Care’s Avon Reach abseiled 100 meters down Portsmouth’s Spinnaker Tower as part of a fundraising effort for All Saints Church, which suffered significant fire damage in 2022. Despite their initial fear, both successfully completed the descent, raising funds for the church’s restoration. Residents from the care home supported them during the event, expressing gratitude for their bravery. Marks noted, “I was absolutely terrified, but we did it.” Last year, the duo also raised over £2,000 through a skydive to aid the church’s recovery efforts.
