Children from Kinson Academy in Bournemouth participated in the ‘Maths Mates’ program, a 10-week outreach initiative by Bournemouth University to enhance numeracy skills. Led by university staff and student ambassadors, the interactive, play-based learning approach increased the pupils’ confidence and enjoyment in maths. The program concluded with a graduation day featuring fun activities like maths darts, a beach ball toss, and games, culminating in a formal ceremony where eight Year 2 pupils received certificates. Principal Michele Lawson noted the program’s positive impact on students’ willingness to engage in learning, highlighted by graduate Isla’s enthusiasm for the games.
