Knife crime rates in Dorset keep declining

Between April 2025 and April 2026, crime in Dorset saw a 9% decrease, with the region boasting the lowest knife crime rate in the UK by population. BCP Council’s Councillor Andy Martin highlighted Dorset as one of the safest areas, emphasizing ongoing crime reduction efforts. Detective Superintendent Andy Bell noted the importance of removing knives from streets. The Sceptre campaign, focusing on knife crime awareness, features public engagement events, educational presentations, and knife surrender bins at police stations. Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner David Sidwick reaffirmed a commitment to tackling violence and reducing knife crime further.
