Christchurch Baptist Church is hosting a free open day for its new £2.5 million Beacon Centre on Saturday, May 23, from 10 am to 1 pm. Located on Bargates, the event will feature family-friendly activities like a barbecue, face painting, crafts, and a bouncy castle. This marks the first opportunity for the public to explore the new facility, officially opened by Mayor Maggie Fidler. Church minister Chris Brockway emphasized the center’s community-driven design, meant for long-term use. A thanksgiving service with speaker Andrew Ollerton will follow at 2 pm, celebrating the church’s 151-year history in the area.
