Debut episode of BBC show highlights two Dorset landmarks

The fourth series of “Hidden Treasures of the National Trust” premieres this Friday at 8 PM, featuring Max Gate, Thomas Hardy’s home, and the Cerne Giant hill figure in Dorset. Viewers will see the National Trust’s efforts to restore Hardy’s sundial, a memorial made after his death in 1928, showcasing Hardy’s creativity with its Latin inscription “Quid de Nocte?” Additionally, the episode highlights conservation work on the 180-foot Cerne Giant, emphasizing the collaboration between local farmers and National Trust volunteers.
