Sophie, a Dorchester resident, developed The PAI Project, an app combining satellite imaging and AI to protect marine habitats and address illegal fishing. She won the People’s Choice Award in Samsung UK’s “Solve for Tomorrow” competition, receiving votes from 917 people. Her prizes included a Samsung Galaxy Book, advertising on Piccadilly Lights, and work experience at Samsung. Over 2,100 competitors participated, with 984 teams moving through design and prototyping workshops. Soohyun Jessie Park, Samsung’s corporate responsibility head, praised the program for empowering youth to effect positive change through technology.
