Poole lettings teacher cautions landlords feeling “frightened off”

David d’Orton-Gibson, managing director of Training for Professionals, criticized the new Renters Rights Act, claiming it will harm both landlords and tenants. The Act eliminates Section 21 “no-fault” evictions and fixed contracts, extending eviction notice periods from two to four months. He argues that low-income tenants will struggle more due to the lack of available rentals and the misconception that landlords frequently evict without reason. He anticipates many landlords will sell their properties as managing them becomes less profitable. In contrast, MP Tom Hayes supports the legislation, highlighting its potential to offer tenants greater stability and protection from rogue landlords.
