Dorset musical marathon raises over £4,000 for church

The Pianathon at St Luke’s Church in Winton attracted over 200 attendees, featuring continuous piano performances from 9am to 9pm. The event raised more than £4,000 to support the installation of accessible toilets and the church’s transformation into a community hub. Rev Canon Michael Smith expressed the day exceeded expectations and highlighted the church’s potential as a vibrant space for the community. Pianists of all ages participated, playing diverse music styles. Currently, the church lacks indoor restroom facilities, necessitating visitors to use the church hall across the car park. Plans for a café and family amenities are in progress.
