A proposal aims to increase the number of specialist places at Linwood School’s Skills Centre in Poole from 30 to 60 for young people aged 16-19 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). Since its opening in November 2025, the center has reduced costs by lessening out-of-area placements. The demand for such provisions is rising by about 11% annually. The expansion, starting September 2026, will provide local access to education, enhance life skills like budgeting and self-care, and include qualified special education teachers. Residents can submit feedback until June 15, 2026, with a decision expected by July 22.
