Ferndown Upper School achieves exceptional Ofsted rating

Ferndown Upper School in Cherry Grove accommodates 1,169 students aged 13 to 19 and was rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted during an inspection on March 3, 2026. The report commended the school for its “highly positive attitudes to learning” and impressive academic achievements, alongside its inclusive culture supporting students with special educational needs. However, Ofsted noted that while teaching generally meets expectations, improvements are needed in adapting lessons and reinforcing essential skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Headteacher Philip Jones celebrated the report as a testament to staff dedication and community support.
