Dorset Council is considering proposals for new automatic number plate recognition cameras and upgraded parking machines to improve visitor experience and maintain revenue. The updates aim to address dissatisfaction with outdated machines at South Beach car park, Marine Terrace park, and Shell Bay, featuring smaller, energy-efficient models that don’t issue paper tickets. The new installations, including ANPR cameras on 4-meter poles at Shell Bay, are expected to enhance parking efficiency and convenience for visitors while also boosting the council’s revenue from these car parks.
