PCC David Sidwick has welcomed 23 additional Neighbourhood Police Officers (NPTs) in Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole as part of a government initiative aimed at reducing anti-social behavior. Despite this, he expressed concerns about ongoing funding issues, noting that Dorset’s police force receives the least central government funding, leading to reliance on local taxpayers. Sidwick highlighted that residents fund 53% of their police force, the fourth highest in the UK. The new officers will address local crime and strengthen community ties. MP Tom Hayes emphasized the importance of visible police presence in neighborhoods to improve public confidence.
